Sylvia Guillen is a recurring character in Season 6. She is Taystee's lawyer and is portrayed by Nedra McClyde.
Personality[]
She is a kind, helpful woman with good morals. She has a strong support for the Black Lives Matter movement and helps out as a free lawyer for Taystee. She is laid back, but good at her job.

She is a tall, black woman with groomed eyebrows. She wears pantsuits and jewelry. She has big eyes and full lips.
Biography[]
She works for the ACLU as a public defence lawyer.
Season 6[]
She is introduced as Taystee's new lawyer sent by the ACLU and helps Taystee by giving her advice on what to say during the interview stating "don't hold back" and that she can step in if Taystee feels uncomfortable. She informs Taystee she cannot swear during the interview, and comforts her when she begins to cry ("Gordons")
She attends the trial deposition with Taystee, she is seen writing a lot and when it is announced that Taystee punched Caputo and taystee shouts that she barely hit him, she apologises on Taystee's behalf. ("Break the String")
She is present when Cindy gives her testimony. ("Well This Took a Dark Turn")
Caputo talks to her as she tries to enter the bathroom, they discuss Taystee's trial and chances of winning, she thinks it's 50-50 and that the new medical examiner is a potential win. Later, she asks Taystee questions as she tries to make the jury feel compassion for her, asking about her childhood. She states that she just wanted justice for Poussey and better conditions ("Double Trouble").
Sylvia is present when the final statements are given. She comforts Taystee and makes sure she's okay. ("Be Free")
