"Minority Deport" is the fifth episode of the seventh season of Orange Is the New Black. It is the eighty-third episode of the series overall. It premiered on July 26, 2019.

Synopsis[]

Aleida tries to keep her teen daughter out of trouble. Piper and Cal shed their responsibilities for a day. Blanca navigates the legal system.

Plot[]

Present[]

Red keeps making mistakes in the kitchen but getting upset when anyone asks or confronts her about it. Meanwhile, Nicky has a crush on Shani, a detainee who is brought in to help with kitchen duties.

Taystee asks Ward if she can work as her assistant (like she did for Caputo). Ward seems to not think it's such a good idea, until Hopper bursts into her office and she realizes that a buffer might be just what she needs. Taystee has an ulterior motive though. She wants drugs from Daya to kill herself and she knows that access to Ward's office is something that will help Daya enough to surrender the drugs eventually.

Meanwhile, Maritza and Blanca are still detained over in the detention center. Blanca suddenly gets called in for a hearing and luckily Karla, the woman right before her, is able to coach her enough to get her hearing continued until she can get a lawyer.

Meanwhile, Gloria and Flaca get an immigrants' rights group to look into Maritza's situation but tell her to be discreet about calling them because if the guards catch on they will shut it down. Maritza can't stand to see the others suffer unfortunately and she gives the number out to everyone. Next thing we know, Maritza is getting deported to a country she's never even lived in.

Aleida is still with Hopper but barely tolerating him. Aleida learns that her daughter Eva is dating a much older man and Aleida goes ballistic on both Eva and her new "boyfriend". Aleida thinks it will be a good idea to take Eva to see Daya, so she can make Daya a "bad example" but Daya throws the real truth back at Aleida - she's been the real bad example. Daya starts to tell Eva about how Hopper and Aleida are smuggling drugs into the prison, something Aleida obviously doesn't want Daya talking about in the middle of the visitation room.

All this comes back to bite Aleida in the end when she goes to the boyfriend's house to confront Eva yet again and ends up getting in a physical fight with the boyfriend (which she wins hands down). The police arrive and Aleida is arrested and is presumably being taken right back to where we first met her.
