Layla Watson is shown to be very supportive of her daughter's wish to be an athlete, and tries to convince her husband to believe so too. Layla also seems to be scared of her husband due to the fact she seems disturbed by the physical discipline Bartholomew gives but does not object

The Watsons are a muslim family. Layla is seen conversing with her husband Bartholomew about their daughter's potential scholarship in track, with Janae present.
