Amanda Stephen is a Canadian-born African American actress, known for Orange Is the New Black (2013) and Zora's Roots (2008). She portrays Alison Abdullah in Orange Is the New Black.

Stephen was born in Montreal, Canada. She graduated from UCF (University of Central Florida) in 2008.
Career[]
Amanda Stephen is New York based actor originally from Quebec, Canada. She moved to Florida when she was 11 and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Theatrical Performance and a B.A. in Interpersonal/Organizational Communications. After college she joined B Street Theatre's Graduate Internship Company and later moved to New York City where she worked on Off-Broadway, regional & national commercials and numerous industrials. Amanda landed the role of Alison Abdullah on Netflix's original series "Orange is the New Black" in spring 2015 and appear on seasons 4 & 5.
The founder and producing director of MIRROR/FIRE Productions, Asia Kate Dillon is part of the artistic resistance. They are creator, curator, and director of US, a storytelling and talkback series at New York’s Dixon Place, which “puts a magnifying glass to racism in the United States using original and found text, audio, and video footage to drive the #BlackLivesMatter conversation forward.”[3] Dillon's collaborative project features fellow Orange Is the New Black cast members Amanda Stephen and Miriam Morales.
