People might hate her for what she represents. As Tasha (Taystee) Jefferson said 'they hate you for what you represent - the money, the education..'. People in horrible situations, the prison in this context, justify being in prison because they had a bad upbringing. So when they see someone who grew up the way they wish to have, having the money, the caring parents, the proper education.. it makes them hate that person for one of two reasons.
These reasons being:
•Either they hate her because she had a fairy tale upbringing and an opportunity to have a wonderful future, but she threw it all away by committing a crime. Not realising how lucky she is.
•Secondly, they could hate her because the fact that she had the life they desired but still ended up in prison, so it demotivates them. It crushes the dream world they go to when in horrible situations to comfort themselves. It makes them think that may they were destined to be in prison, whether they grew up poor or rich.
